Our courses are positive, encouraging, heaps of fun, and of course, they’re a great way to get social and meet other climbers.

Welcome to the Brisbane climbing scene!

OUR GUIDES

Our awesome guides are highly trained, fully accredited, and totally stoked! They’ll provide you with all the gear you’ll need - harness, helmet, climbing shoes, and all other safety equipment. All you’ll need is a water bottle and snacks, appropriate clothing, and enclosed shoes for getting around the crag.

Your guides will also take care of all the ropes and rigging, so you can leave the technical stuff to them. That said, if you’re interested in learning how to construct your own climbing and abseiling anchors, our 2-day Top Rope Course is the ideal next step.

LOCATIONS

The Outdoor Climbing Technique Program is 6 sessions running in three locations, each with their own distinct environment:

  • Kangaroo Point Cliffs 6-9pm
These historic cliffs are an unmistakable landmark and a true Brisbane icon. Affectionately known as KP to climbers, this truly unique urban crag boasts hundreds of routes that cater to all levels of ability. Best of all, giant floodlights mean you can climb day or night at any time of the year!

  • Indoor Climbing Gym 6-9pm
For those new to the sport, right through to seasoned veterans, the climbing gym has proved a powerful training tool in the modern climber’s arsenal. The controlled indoor environment makes it an ideal place for us to work on the finer points of climbing technique - rain, hail or shine!

  • Mt Ngungun, Glasshouse Mountains 7:30am to 11:30am
Located 60 minutes north of Brisbane, the Glasshouse Mountains are another iconic climbing venue. Deservedly popular, Mt Ngungun features routes for climbers of all stripes - from short, punchy routes nestled deep among the ferns, to soaring, atmospheric cracks with incredible views. This is true-blue Queensland climbing and an experience you won’t forget.

FITNESS REQUIREMENTS

Can’t do a pull-up? Don’t worry – technique is much more important than strength! However, you will need a moderate level of fitness to get to the summit of Mt Ngungun, which involves approximately 45 minutes of hiking with ropes and gear in your pack.

Kids Climbing Program (Ages 6-11 Years)

Rock climbing and abseiling are activities which provide both physical and mental challenges. We find kids improve quickly and gain an amazing sense of achievement, as they see themselves getting further up the cliff each week.

NOTE: This is a 8-session program run over 8 weekends. You only need to book into the first session of the program, which will automatically enrol you in the entire program. See below for the exact program dates.

From the playground at school to the tree in the backyard, kids love to climb. Why not add rocks to the list?

If you’re looking for an activity that is new, exciting, and just a little bit different, rock climbing might be just the thing! The fantastic cliffs of South East Queensland offer an incredible opportunity for kids to explore different styles of movement while engaging their natural curiosity. Climbing is an interesting combination of physical and mental challenges, and a route is both a test of skill and a puzzle to be solved.

As they progress further and further each week, members of Kids Club gain a sense of achievement in a fun and non-competitive setting. They learn climbing techniques and safety skills from our stellar guides, and then learn to apply these skills on the wall. It doesn’t matter whether the goal is getting to the top, getting over a hard move, or just getting off the ground – climbing is a personal journey, and kids build confidence by setting and working towards their own goals.

We love introducing kids to the rocks and watching as they go on to do amazing things. In the sport of climbing, a lifetime of adventure awaits. Why not get started now?

SAFETY

Belaying is how we keep our friends safe as they climb, and learning this skill is an important part of climbing. At the start of each term, our guides will teach or refresh belaying skills, and everyone will take a competency-based belay test. From then, kids will be able to use our Grigris (assisted braking devices) to belay each other whilst anchored. For those under 12 years, or not able to pass the test, a parent will be required to help.
